CANADA - What goes on behind-the-scenes of criminal investigations is not known to this trade news writer, although I do get to report on when those efforts have finally reached a satisfying end. A drug investigation that began nearly two years ago has its resolution, in which it was discovered that cocaine found within a banana shipment originated in Colombia.

The shipment, which contained what authorities say is roughly 800,000 doses of crack cocaine, was discovered on February 24, 2019, when two separate grocery stores in Canada found bricks of drugs in banana shipments. Over 20 kg (around 44 pounds) were found inside the shipments.

According to a report from Global News, the shipments ended up in the wrong location due to an alleged missed pickup. The investigators believe that the illicit drugs were not meant to end up in Central Okanagan.

We here at AndNowUKnow are glad to know that the investigation has come to an end, and that these drugs were prevented from entering the Canadian market. As always, our diligent readers can expect an equal diligence from us when it comes to reporting on all things pertaining to fresh.
