<p><strong>Kelowna, BC</strong><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">BC Tree Fruits Okanagan-grown peaches and nectarines are hitting the produce shelves across Western Canada. BC Tree Fruits nectarines and peaches join late season cherries, with crop estimates for peaches totaling 2,950,000 lbs., and nectarines totaling 715,000 lbs. Peaches and nectarines will be available until mid-September.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">The company is also supplying late season cherry varieties, which trump some of the earlier harvested cherries in terms of quality and size. Chris Pollock, Marketing Manager for BC Tree Fruits, states, “All pacific Northwest Growers had a challenging start to the cherry season due to unfavorable weather that compromised the quality of a larger than average crop size.”<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Growers are now transitioning to apple season, with Okanagan orchards on schedule for a comparable crop size and quality to last year. BC Tree Fruits expects demand to be high this upcoming season as apple varieties begin harvest in mid-August.
