Bland Farms to Ship Vidalia Sweet Onions as the Court Declares Packing Rule Void

<p>As the legal battle over the new Vidalia onion start date continues, Bland Farms has announced <B>it is moving ahead with its plans to ship Vidalia onions</b> this week.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Tattnall County Judge D. Jay Stewart of Georgia recently dismissed the company’s request for declaratory judgment and injunctive relief, claiming that Bland Farms had already obtained an order from the Superior Court of Fulton County last month declaring the <B>new packing rule “void and unenforceable,”</b> as well as an injunction barring the Commissioner of Agriculture from enforcing such a rule, according to a press release.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> Meanwhile, Commissioner Black has gone on record to say that the Fulton County Order did not grant injunctive relief to Bland Farms and that he intended to enforce the new packing date rule, which would prevent shipment of Vidalia onions until April 21.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> Now that the packing rule has been declared void and unenforceable, <B>all registered growers, including Bland Farms, may immediately pack and ship Vidalia sweet onions that meet USDA #1 grade.</b></p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p><a class="btn btn-sm btn-primary col-lg-12" style="white-space: normal;" href=" http://blandfarms.com" target="_new"> Bland Farms </a></p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">
