Watsonville, CA

California Giant is pleased with how its “Cool Factor” training videos are being received by industry leaders. The video programs aim to assist produce departments with keeping berries and other fresh produce items cool in the summer heat.

Anthony Gallino, VP of Sales at Cal Giant, explains, “Practicing proper cold chain management is critical to the profitability of our fresh strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries. Training is essential, and with the summer heat here, it is even more important to keep berries refrigerated while on display.” Mr. Gallino adds, “the videos have already been viewed hundreds of times on YouTube, as well as requested on flash drives so we hope our retail partners will continue to share the information with their store level personnel and maintain the cold chain for best quality for our consumers.”

To better relay the importance of keeping berries cold during this time of the year, Cal Giant has also added a message to clamshell labels staying that the company's berries are “Best if Kept Refrigerated”. Trade professionals are continuing to receive the videos positively, and the training videos are conveniently available through the Cal Giant YouTube page.

California Giant
