CALIFORNIA - As we inch closer to the end of January, Valentine’s Day planning hits full swing. Without a doubt, strawberries will be a staple as consumers prepare for the holiday, and it’s time to put those merchandising plans in play. To get a closer look at today’s market dynamics, we took a dive into the latest pricing and volume data from the California Strawberry Commission (CSC) and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
According to the CSC’s Daily Price & Volume Report, the total California strawberry volume for the week ending 1/24/2026 reached 869,606 trays (828,819 conventional and 40,787 organic).
The association reported the following average price for flats 8 1-lb containers with lids as of 1/26/2026:
- Central Florida (Conventional): $17.00
- Central Florida (Organic): $37.00
- Mexico Crossings Through Otay Mesa (Conventional): $16.00
- Mexico Crossings Through Texas - (Conventional): $14.00
- Oxnard District - (Conventional): $16.00
- Oxnard District (Organic): $31.00
- Santa Maria (Conventional): $16.00
- Santa Maria (Organic): $28.00
The USDA’s National FOB Review for January 26, 2026 reports a slightly higher market with fairly good demand in Santa Maria, a steady market with moderate demand in Oxnard, and a steady to slightly lower market with moderate demand for Mexico Crossings through Otay Mesa and Texas.
