<p><strong>Sedro-Woolley, WA</strong><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Organic apple and pear harvest has begun in California, and the fruit is in high demand as retailers vie to promote fresh organic produce this summer.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Luis Acuna, President of CF Fresh, Inc, states, “When the California pear season rolls around, it is always a hectic, yet exciting time for our growers and their workers. Our customers will enjoy beautiful, tasty, and juicy organic Bartletts this year as the weather has been very favorable for the crop.” CF Fresh expects to pack about 50,000 cases of organic Bartletts from its California orchards. According to a press release, the fruit is large and very clean with little scarring. Packing began on July 20th, with demand greater than supply on the first packs.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Roy Ruff, CF Fresh’s California-based Sales Representative, states, “California had a great growing season this year, and the fruit turned out beautifully. The weather all spring was perfect for tree fruit.” Organic Gala harvest is also beginning in California, with the first packaging expected to take place on July 27th.
