C.H. Robinson, Macey’s and Tropicana Think Big With Pineapples

<p><strong> Brampton, ON</strong><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> Tropicana and Macey’s in Pleasant Grove, Utah celebrated the approaching of Spring with the world’s largest Tropicana pineapple display. The display was ready for its curtain call on April 4th at the Pleasant Grove location. Approximately 12 people put together the display the evening prior to the debut which featured 8,820 pineapples, amounting to an estimated 36,750 pounds of fruit. C.H. Robinson who works with Associated Food Stores, the parent of Macey's, found that the location had just the right specs and atmosphere for the enormous feat. SpongeBob Squarepants also made an appearance at the pineapple production.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> Kim Smith, Southwest Produce Manager at C.H. Robinson Worldwide, Inc., stated, “When we heard that Macey’s was interested in building a display, we knew that Tropicana pineapple would be a perfect fit. Pineapple is a sweet, fun and vibrant fruit and will help bring in the spring season in style."<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> The store also reduced its regular retail pricing on pineapples from $1.29 lb. to 48 cents lb. To keep with the pineapple theme, Macey’s also staged a luau on Saturday, April 7th that boasted Hawaiian dancers, free samples and recipes. Store Director, Jared Young stated, "This is going to be an incredible event." He continues, "For a short time we will be able to provide a tropical home here in Utah.
