The grapes were subject to rain in early January with the effects just now manifesting. The region was hit by 2 inches of rain in some areas which can be detrimental to grapes. Flames were ready to be harvested as the rains hit which created just enough of a situation to complicate things. In addition, dry Spring weather led to smaller sizes and a delay and harvest.
