CKF Inc. has recently acquired Vancouver-based Vancore Plastic Packaging Ltd., a full-line plastic packaging manufacturer serving produce, grocery, and consumer products with its thermoformed clamshells, trays, and blister packs. The acquisition is in step with changes in the packaging sector, which is moving to the use of more standardized plastic materials such as PET and rPET, according to a press release.

“We see the purchase of Vancore’s operations as another step in our move towards sustainability as we can immediately offer our clients packaging made from PET and rPET, both of which are widely accepted recycled and recyclable materials,” says Ian Anderson, President of CKF.

Vancore was established by Abbas Rehmanji and Cheryl Marshall, who will both continue in their leadership roles after the acquisition. “We are thrilled to have Abbas and Cheryl as part of our team as they add a level of skill and knowledge in design, development, and manufacturing of PET and rPET that will be greatly utilized within CKF,” continued Anderson. Marshall stated that Vancore is excited about working towards environmentally responsible packaging together with CKF, which will assist with the company’s vision to increase the recyclability of plastic.

This transaction marks the second acquisition in as many months by CKF, having concluded the purchase of the operating assets and brand of Earthcycle Packaging, a moulded pulp supplier, in early September.
