CHARLOTTE, NC - In August, we shared a report on ProduceSupply.Org’s Cybersecurity Guidance for Produce Suppliers, in which it was said cyberattacks on the produce industry were on the rise. Unfortunately, as hackers continue to set their sights on fresh produce, Dole plc has been one of the latest targets.
The company announced in a release that it recently experienced a cybersecurity incident linked to ransomware. Upon learning this, the supplier worked to quickly contain the threat and engaged with leading third-party cybersecurity experts that are working in partnership with Dole’s internal teams to fix the issue and secure its systems.
Additionally, Dole has notified law enforcement about the incident and is cooperating with their investigation. As the company continues to determine the scope of the attack, the impact on its operations has been limited.
