The “heavenly white apricots” are sporting a new label with Frieda’s signature purple color. An Angelcot® is an oval-shaped fruit with velvety, pale yellow skin and white, juicy, intensely sweet flesh.

The angelic fruit is a hybrid of the Moroccan and Iranian apricots, grown in Central California. Only a few acres are being harvested for Angelcots® in the world, signifying a short season lasting from 2 to 8 weeks for this unique fruit. Karen Caplan, Frieda’s CEO and President, described the history and harvesting of Angelcots® in What’s On Karen’s Plate, a blog she began in 2010.

Karen Caplan, stated, “Even though it was a full two weeks before harvest, I picked an Angelcot® off the tree and sampled it. I could already taste the sweet juiciness of this special fruit." Angelcots® will be available in select retail stores across the United States later this month.

Frieda's
