<p><strong>Macon, GA</strong><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> The Georgia Watermelon Association is making plans for a retail marketing blitz in retail grocery chains in Macon, Georgia. The blitz will take place on June 15-16, 2012 in conjunction with several Mercer University sororities. Representatives from Phi Mu, Alpha Delta Pi, Delta Gamma and Chi Omega sororities attended an informational session hosted by the National Watermelon Promotion Board and the Georgia Watermelon Association and are ready to hit produce departments in the city.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> Several women from each organization will be available in the produce departments to speak with consumers about the perks of watermelon consumption including the nutritional and economical value and how to pick out a good watermelon. These representatives will be speaking for GWA at Ingles, Harvey’s, Food Lion, Dollar General Market and Robins Air Force Base, according to a press release.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> Jamey Adams, President of the Georgia Watermelon Association, states, “This will be a great opportunity for consumers to learn about the healthy benefits of eating locally grown Georgia watermelons.
