BAKERSFIELD, CA - Along with the festive celebrations and decorations that encapsulate the holidays, the start of the season also includes one other tradition for many consumers—cooking. As shoppers everywhere begin prepping their holiday menus, Grimmway Farms is standing at the ready for the upcoming spike in demand with great quality and a strong supply of carrots that will play an integral role in celebratory feasts.

Mike Anspach, Vice President of Sales, Grimmway“The market is good for conventional and organic carrots across the board—classic orange, colorful rainbow, and our more unique, fresh-cut varieties are seeing strong demand this season,” Mike Anspach, Vice President of Sales, tells me. “While holiday gatherings may look different this year, consumers are cooking at home and looking for specialty vegetables and seasonal varieties to make their holiday dishes special.”

Regardless of how consumers will be celebrating the holidays this year, Grimmway is still anticipating a seasonal sales spike and has worked with customers to ensure a robust supply of products to stock up on and for partners to promote.

“Demand is strong in the carrot market, so we appreciate working closely with our buyers to meet their planned needs with dedicated supply,” continues Mike. “We’re amidst big holiday sales weeks and we anticipate strong sales will continue, so we think it’s an ideal time to promote conventional baby carrots and value-added carrot cuts.”

With more shopper eyes focused on fresh produce aisles due to seasonal demand and holiday cooking, Grimmway is remaining prepared to meet both buyer and shopper demand with the ongoing harvest of its fall crop of carrots.

“We’ve seen incredible demand in both the conventional and organic carrot markets throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and this trend is continuing as we approach the holidays,” says Mike. “We’re currently harvesting our fall crop in California’s San Joaquin Valley, and quality looks great. We connected with our customers proactively and our acreage base is set to fulfill their planned needs.”

As the demand for carrots continues to increase, Grimmway is planning on utilizing several different growing regions across the U.S. in order to keep a strong supply for the company’s retail partners. Mike explains that California carrots are already available and are showing great quality. In mid-December, Grimmway will begin shipping its conventional carrots from its Southeast growing regions and its organic carrots from the same region in early January.
