Serving with the company since 2008, his wisdom in leadership has been instrumental in creating the vision for what Homegrown Organic Farms has become today. He helped to develop and navigate many of the changes that Homegrown has instituted over the past five years. The position was previously held by Tom Avinelis since 2005. Continued farming expansion and new venture opportunities are demanding Tom spend more time focused on operations and developments outside of the Homegrown business of serving its customer and growers.

Avinelis stated, “I’m excited about this transition. Homegrown’s growth is requiring that we have someone more engaged in the business of exceeding our customers’ expectations. Scott has exemplified his leadership skills in driving the company’s goals and vision. He has proven his capabilities of taking Homegrown to new levels of customer and grower service and most of all the ability to build an effective team and great work environment.”

Tom began to step back from his duties as CEO over a year and a half ago as Scott started to take on the responsibilities of leading the company. Owners John and Cindy France have worked with Avinelis and Mabs in planning this transition since 2011. Mabs said “This would not be possible if it wasn’t for the incredible team that we have here at Homegrown. I feel honored to lead the company forward and continue what John France and Tom Avinelis created.”

Homegrown’s founders, John and Cindy France said, “We have worked with Scott for many years and have seen his exceptional leadership skills and we wholeheartedly support this transition. Our deep and heartfelt thanks go to Tom for not only his friendship but for his leadership under which this company has seen extraordinary growth. We are very confident in the team that has been built at this company and look forward to continuing our commitment to our growers and customers in the future.”

Homegrown Organic Farms
