Oregon Onion Committee (USA Onions) plans to launch a grilling platform on September 1, 2012 as part of its marketing and promotion efforts for retail and direct to consumer-based programs.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">The USA Onions grilling platform will incorporate a football tailgating marketing message, a natural choice for the promotions since the Idaho-Oregon Onion season runs from August through March. Sherise Jones, Marketing Director for Idaho-E. Oregon Onion Committee states, “This season marks the beginning of what we hope will be a long term platform to include grilling with onions. We have selected Weber to provide the grills and accessories for our grilling platform.” Ms. Jones adds, “Grilling enhances the flavor profile of our onions. While our raw onions are somewhat more pungent, they actually contain more sugar than sweet onions.
