IFCO SYSTEMS has announced that Frank Ratto of Ratto Bros. Inc. and Hillary Femal of IFCO Systems will headline a presentation on packaging solutions as part of the educational series at PACK EXPO. To be held Monday, September 23, 2013 the session, titled Waste Reduction through Reusable Plastic Container Use in Fresh Produce Applications, is part of the Reusables Learning Center organized by the Reusable Packaging Association, according to a press release.
“Ratto Bros. and IFCO Systems are working together to encourage sustainable business practices throughout the extended produce distribution channels, while making the supply chain more efficient. This session will feature several examples of how this is effectively being accomplished now and how it will improve productivity and lower the carbon footprint even more in the future,” said Femal.
Ratto, a 3rd Generation “Leafy Greens” vegetable grower, uses IFCO RPCs at his vegetable farm in Modesto, California. Femal will discuss the impact of reusable packaging on three kinds of waste: cost/labor, product/food and environmental in the day-to-day produce supply chain from field to retail.

The session is scheduled for 10:00-10:45pm on September 23 in the Lower South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, Booth S-6458 at PACK EXPO 2013.
