<p><strong>Rosemont, IL</strong><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Jorge Hernandez, senior VP of Food Safety and Quality Assurance at US Foods, has become a new member of the advisory board for the Center for Produce Safety. CPS is committed researching and implementing practices that enhance the safety of produce. Mr. Hernandez is a registered sanitarian and past FDA standardization officer. As part of his work at US Foods, Mr. Hernandez is responsible for ensuring compliance with all food safety regulatory standards.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Hernandez states, “Collaboration is crucial to the success of any industry. As food industry professionals, we’re responsible for keeping the nation’s food supply safe. It’s critical to have a partnership that’s committed to filling the knowledge gap through research, outreach, and education.”<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">CPS funds 70 original research projects, representing an investment of close to $10.5 million, that seek to address the most critical questions affecting produce safety. Mr. Hernandez brings in-depth food safety experience to CPS, allowing it to play an even greater role in directing national research endeavors and increasing collaboration across the produce supply chain. Stephen Patricio, chairman of the CPS board, states “Jorge’s experience and expertise will be an important addition to the organization.
