LOS ALAMITOS, CA - Known for their remarkable sweetness and easy-peel texture, Ojai Gold Nugget mandarins are ready to hit shelves and drive promotions. Ripening later in the domestic citrus season, they present retailers with the opportunity to deliver key citrus promotions in late spring. I turned to Juan Perez, Domestic and International Sales Director of Westlake Produce, to learn more.

“We expect to have a good supply of great quality mandarins for April and May. Crops are peaking on mid sizes, with Jumbos and Mammoth available in 25 lb volume-filled and tray packs,” Juan kicks off. “We also have consumer packaging in 2 lb and 3 lb giros and 2 lb zip pouch bags.”

Westlake Produce works alongside its retail partners to make sure they’re capturing shopper interest and driving a higher basket ring.

Point-of-sale (POS) materials are available, as is sampling support for and during promotions.

"The Ojai Valley Gold Nuggets are grown in a microclimate area of Ventura County,” Juan adds, noting the unique region in which these mandarins are grown. “The cool nights and warm days have brought on very nice exterior color and excellent eating quality.”

Available for a limited time—Juan anticipates the end of the season will be early June—this is one citrus program you won’t want to pass up!
