Lineage Logistics Closes Acquisition of Kloosterboer Norway Facility
- by Jenna Plasterer
NOVI, MI - Exciting news is in the air at Lineage Logistics, as the company has announced its acquisition of the Kloosterboer Norway facility. The new facility will provide Lineage with a strategically located facility that will expand its cold storage capabilities. Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed.
“We’re excited to bring the Kloosterboer Norway facility into the Lineage network to enable us to further serve and reach customers in the Northern European region,” said Mike McClendon, Lineage’s President of International Operations and EVP of Network Optimization. “Kloosterboer, founded in 1925, is a strong and independent family business and we welcome the team at the Kloosterboer Norway facility to the Lineage family.”
The newly acquired Kloosterboer Norway facility totals 17,500 pallet positions and is located outside of Oslo where it is perfectly positioned to serve both retailers and food producers, according to a press release. The facility’s structure will provide Lineage with a highly efficient use of cold storage volume, which will help the company eliminate food waste while expanding its ability to feed more consumers.
“Kloosterboer’s strategy is to be an integrated supply chain partner for its customers, which is leading us in the direction of building multiple new locations in a short period of time. Because the Nordics are not a key development market in this strategy, we are pleased to sell Kloosterboer Norway to Lineage,” explained Stephane Pluenet, Kloosterboer’s Executive Director of Automation.
Lineage first entered into the Norwegian market in October 2020 and into the overall Scandinavian region in June 2020. With the acquisition of the new facility, Lineage will continue its strategic expansion of facilities across Europe.
At the close of the transaction, Lineage’s global footprint will span over 1.9 billion cubic feet of temperature-controlled space. Its network includes 330 facilities throughout 14 different countries across North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and South America.
As Lineage continues to extend its footprint across not only Europe, but the world, AndNowUKnow will continue to bring you the latest updates.
