Mann Packing is celebrating its 75th anniversary this month. In celebration, the company will be retooling its packaging and launching several new products, according to a press release. A celebration will also take place in July at the Monterey County Fairgrounds for its employees and special guests.

It’s our turn at the helm to shepherd Mann Packing into the future for many years to come."
Mann Packing was founded in 1939 by H.W. “Cy” Mann as a carrot packing operation. Soon after, the company began growing broccoli for frozen food companies. At the time, broccoli was relatively unknown to America's heartland; Mann saw the potential and began shipping the vegetable.
Later on, Mann Packing Company partially funded the very first market basket nutritional study of broccoli at the USDA. The study revealed the product’s superior nutritional content. The study was publicized, and as a result its shipments of fresh broccoli increased 940% between 1970 and 1985. At one time, Mann Packing was the world's largest grower-shipper of fresh broccoli.
Mann Packing continued to grow its business, and today it is one of North America’s leading suppliers of fresh and fresh-cut vegetables for the retail, wholesale and foodservice markets. Currently, the company's signature items include Broccoli Cole Slaw, Broccolini, Stringless Sugar Snap Peas, Simply Singles whole leaf products, Arcadian Harvest petite whole lettuce leaves, Better Burger leaf and Scarlett Butter lettuce.

Today, Mann is owned by the Nucci and Ramsey families and the company has been family-owned and operated for three generations. Also, more than 65% of the company’s shareholders are women, making it a certified Women’s Business Enterprise (WBENC).
