<p>Mastronardi Produce is continuing to provide fans of its SUNSET® Michigan grown tomatoes even through the cold, long winter. Thanks to Mastronardi’s state-of-the-art Coldwater, Michigan facility, the company is able to provide consumers with fresh tomatoes-on-the-vine and grape tomatoes 365 days of the year.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Since 2012, the greenhouse has used grow lights to produce fresh tomatoes year round, even when there’s snow on the ground, according to a press release.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">“The ability to grow fresh tomatoes in the middle of winter is something we are very proud of,” said Paul Mastronardi, CEO. “The location of Coldwater means we can pick, pack, and ship the freshest possible tomatoes in the same day. This means we continue to deliver the highest flavor possible while also reducing food miles.”<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Phase II expansion for the Coldwater facility began this winter and is expected to complete this summer.
