<p>Chief Executive Officer of Chicago-based Strube Celery & Vegetable Co, Jan Fleming, passed away May 1 at 67.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">“Most people you’ll talk to will tell you it was her warmth, her heart, and her personality that drew people to her. She was an incredibly strong and passionate person who led the way for women in the industry,” Lisa Strube, Director of Finance told AndNowUKnow.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Jan marked the third generation of the company which was founded by her grandfather, Fred Strube, in 1913. She started in sales in the late 60’s where she worked successfully to develop the company’s fruit division. In the 1990s, she joined the administrative team as President.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">She also served on the USDA advisory committee for eight years and was a strong supporter of the United Fresh Produce Association.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">“She will be very dearly missed,” said Strube.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Visitation will be held on Sunday May 5th from 3pm until 8pm. Memorial services will take place on Monday May 6th at 2pm. Both services will be held at the North Shore United Methodist Church 213 Hazel Avenue Glencoe, Illinois 60022-1775.</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>The family asks mourners to contribute to the Jan and Tim Fleming Scholarship for Women Majoring in Business in lieu of flowers.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Our deepest condolences go out to Jan’s family, friends, and coworkers.</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">
