<p>Industry veteran and leader Robert Paul "Bob" Post, Jr. passed away at the age of 79 on April 25, 2013.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><img class="small-cropped-image" src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacySmallCroppedImages/Robert_Paul_Post_Jr_BODY_01.jpg" alt="images 050813" />Bob began his produce career in 1960 with Standard Fruit and Steamship Company in New Orleans as a customer service representative after serving in the U.S. Navy. Standard Fruit and Steamship Company later became Dole Fresh Fruit. In 1974 he joined Dole’s corporate office in San Francisco. He returned his native New Orleans a few years later as Vice President of Banana Sales for the Central Division.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><img class="small-cropped-image" src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacySmallCroppedImages/Robert_Paul_Post_Jr_BODY_02.jpg" alt="images 050813" />Mike Cavallero, President of Tropical Fruit for Dole North America, recalls, “Bob was an experienced and wise industry veteran with extensive knowledge of the banana business. Even after his retirement, I continued to speak with him on a regular basis as he was a mentor for me. He will be sorely missed.” </p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>Bob was witness to 45 years of transformations in the produce industry, including the move to shipping bananas from stems to boxes, during his time with Dole. He retired in 2005.</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>Bob has been fondly remembered by his co-workers for his infectious personality and "joie de vivre," according to a press release. </p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>He was husband to Joyce Williams Post, as well as a loving father and grandfather.
