He has held the position since 2009. According to Bloomberg News, the retailer has identified two possible successors to Duke. Doug McMillon, has been identified as a possible successor and currently runs the international operations. Bill Simon, has also be noted as a possibility. He currently is in charge of the U.S. stores, the publication reports.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><img src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacyWriterImages/walmart050813body.jpg" alt="images 050813" /><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">The CEO is not slated to step down immediately, but Bloomberg notes that a person close to the situation says Wal-Mart might name his successor in the coming months. With Wal-Mart’s June shareholder meeting, that might come sooner that later. </p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>Duke has had quite a "tumultuous" time as head of Wal-Mart. If he leaves this year, Duke will have the shortest tenure of any of Wal-Mart’s chief executives. As sales have been slumping and customers have been complaining that store shelves aren't always fully stocked, there is much to be considered.</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>Wal-Mart could not immediately be reached for a comment.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><a class="btn btn-sm btn-primary col-lg-12" style="white-space: normal;" href="http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2013-05-07/is-mike-duke-planning-to-check-out-at-wal-mart" target="_new">Wal-Mart</a></p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">
