UNITED STATES & MEXICO - Earlier this month, a freeze in Florida caused extensive damage to crops. As growers work overtime to recover from weather-related disruptions, tomato pricing and supply have been affected.
According to The Source, the supply of Roma tomatoes is tight, with some relief expected from supplies in Mexico. Round tomato supplies are lighter due to delayed harvests in Florida, with Mexico and the western United States working to supplement the market.
Grape and cherry tomatoes were also affected by the cold weather.
Markon Cooperative posted an update on February 10 that “freezing temperatures have reduced yields in Florida” and that “Mexican stocks are moderate due to previous poor weather”.
Both The Source and Markon Cooperative’s reports indicated that the industry should expect higher pricing.
The National FOB Review from February 12, 2026, notes that “maturity of crops is being affected by previous cold weather.” From Central and South Florida, the supply of cherry tomatoes is very light. Flat 12 1-pint baskets are priced between 18.35 and 19.35. Grape tomatoes are priced between 16.35 and 17.35. Tomato prices are slightly lower from Mexico, with shipments coming through Nogales, Arizona, and Texas.
