The participating retailers will help the HealthyMinds Campaign by encouraging shoppers to add more fruits and vegetables in their carts.

“Teaching children the importance of eating healthy with fresh fruits and vegetables from an early age is crucial in the fight against childhood obesity,” says Kim Avola, VP at Produce for Kids. “Helping to fund classroom projects that aim to teach kids these important values is what the Healthy Schools, Healthy Minds campaign is all about.”

Thanks to DonorsChoose.org, an online charity, teachers can request classroom supplies and DonorsChoose.org will buy and send the materials directly to the class to help better the student’s education. Presently, 230,000 requests have been made by charter and public schools instructors and acquired $117 million in art supplies, books, and other learning enhancement tools. In addition, the campaign will offer teachers the chance to fund their own DonorsChoose.org projects through the Play With Your Produce Classroom Challenge.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Produce for Kids and participating retailers to engage the public to fund classroom projects focused on health and nutrition. Health should start at a young age and what kids are fed and taught at school will affect the way they live the rest of their lives,” says Janelle Lin, Vice President of Partnership sand Business Development for DonorsChoose.org.

All money raised during the Healthy Minds campaign will be used to match donations to classroom projects in each of the participating retailers’ local schools.

<a class="btn btn-sm btn-primary col-lg-12" style="white-space: normal;" href="http://www.donorschoose.org/"target="_new"> DonorsChoose.org

<a class="btn btn-sm btn-primary col-lg-12" style="white-space: normal;" href="http://www.produceforkids.com/index.html"target="_new"> Produce for Kids
