UNITED STATES - Is Ahold Delhaize looking to make itself known as a major competitor to the likes of Amazon and Walmart on their own turf? Reports are saying yes. According to Reuters, CEO Frans Muller revealed the retailer’s potential strategy shift, which included plans of looking for acquisitions in the U.S.

While Muller was forthcoming in divulging the strategy shift, no details were disclosed regarding possible targets or how much the company is looking to spend.

Earlier this year, Ahold Delhaize announced plans to expand its U.S. online business organically by honing in on its online grocery delivery business Peapod. This month, Peapod named Selma Postma as its new President, with Ahold Delhaize also announcing growth in its e-commerce business and a new partnership expanding its digital operations.
