Charities for another successful fundraising campaign to benefit the American Heart Association’s cause to build healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. On March 23rd the partnership celebrated an epic milestone at the Twentynine Palms Stater Bros. Supermarket. This year, Stater Bros. Charities exceeded their goal by raising $363,523 for the platform.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> Each year, for the past eleven years during the month of February, Stater Bros. customers at all locations purchase $1 red paper hearts and $5 gold paper hearts at check out in support of the American Heart Association. Stater Bros. customers and employees have raised over $3.5 million. The donations have benefited the Southern California community through AHA research grants, community education programs and health care quality improvement initiatives, according to a press release.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> Mary Caldwell, Chair of the American Heart Association’s Western States Affiliate, stated, “We are deeply grateful to Stater Bros. for their continued support of the American Heart Association.” Ms. Caldwell, continued, “We have an aggressive goal of improving the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent while reducing deaths from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20 percent by the year 2020.
