<p><strong>Minneapolis, MINN</strong><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> Target Corp. held its annual shareholders' meeting Wednesday at one of its new innovative store plans that is debuting next month. The State Street location in Chicago, was host to the annual meeting Chaired by Gregg Steinhafel, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Minneapolis-based company. The new plan that Target will be debuting is its first smaller format urban store - City Target. The format is slated to launch in three cities next month - Los Angeles in Westwood, Seattle in Pike Plaza and Chicago at State Street.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> "We are very excited about this concept and banner," stated Mr. Stainhafel. He later continues, "It extends our brand and our strategy to urban areas and guests who already have a high affinity for Target, but can't always get to our stores."<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> In October, Target will open its second site in L.A. and its first in San Francisco. Next year, Portland, Oregon will see a City Target, and L.A. will see its third.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> Last year, the company expanded its grocery format for general merchandise stores and completed full store merchandise reinventions in 400 stores, bringing the total number of newly remodeled stores to 900 in all. This year, the company expects to renovate an additional 230 stores.
