USDA Files Action Against G & J Fresh Produce and Sun Belt Commodities for PACA Violations

<p> The USDA has filed action against two Texas-based companies for failure to pay for produce, according to a press release.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> <B>G &amp; J Fresh Produce LLC</b>, a McAllen, Texas-based company, failed to pay a $5,922 award in favor of a Texas seller. Josue De La Fuente and Gisela Munoz were listed as members of the business.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> <B>Sun Belt Commodities Inc.</b>, a Houston, Texas-based company, failed to pay a $122,221 in favor of a California seller. Daniel Chen and James C. Lai were listed as the officers, directors, and/or major stockholders of the business.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> In the past three years, the USDA resolved approximately 4,600 claims under the PACA involving more than $87 million. Individuals, including sole proprietors, partners, members, managers, officers, directors, or major stockholders may not be employed or affiliated with any PACA licensee without the approval of the USDA.
