USDA Files Action Against PACA Violators in Florida, Virginia, and New Mexico

<p> Four PACA violators in Florida, Virginia, and New Mexico have been restricted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture from operating in the produce industry, according to a press release.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> First Coast of Miami LLC, a Miami, Florida-based company, has allegedly failed to pay a $27,313 award in favor of an Alabama seller. Pedro Gonzalez was listed as the sole member of the business.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> Gonzalez Produce, a Plant City, Florida-based company, failed to pay a $9,500 award in favor of a Texas seller. David Gonzalez was listed as the sole proprietor of the business.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> Staunton Fruit &amp; Produce Co. Inc., a Verona, Virginia-based company, failed to pay a $4,533 award in favor of a Canada seller. John M. Moskowitz and Terri R. Rector were listed as the officers, directors, and/or major stockholders of the business.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> R &amp; C Distributing Inc., an Albuquerque, New Mexico-based business, failed to pay a $2,294 award in favor of a Colorado seller. Carlos E. Jaramillo was listed as the officer, director, and major stockholder of the business.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> In the past three years, the USDA resolved approximately 4,600 claims under the PACA involving more than $87 million. Individuals, including sole proprietors, partners, members, managers, officers, directors, or major stockholders may not be employed or affiliated with any PACA licensee without the approval of the USDA.
