“We launched the new eco tray as an answer to consumers wanting an organic pack that was not plastic,” shared Mac Riggan, Vice President of Sales and Business Development at Chelan Fresh. “Something that was close to biodegradable but definitely post-consumer recyclable.”
The eco tray is made entirely of cardboard and designed with both sustainability and practicality in mind. The 4-count pack showcases apples ranging from 88 to 100 size—a sweet spot for shoppers seeking snack-friendly fruit that fits their lifestyle.
“Consumers told us that’s the size they like to snack with. It’s not too big. It’s not too small,” Riggan explained. “The varieties we’re highlighting right now are organic Gala, Fuji, Granny, and Honeycrisp.”
As the company continues to innovate, its focus remains on variety and presentation.
“We’re also going to be rolling out our organic SugarBee, and then we also have our red-flesh apples with the organic Lucy Rose,” Riggan added. “We’ll also be highlighting the organic Cosmic Crisp in both large and small-size formats.”
Chelan Fresh’s eco tray aligns with rising consumer demand for sustainable, functional packaging that doesn’t sacrifice quality or convenience—a direction that continues to define the evolution of premium produce offerings.
