Brussels Sprouts Supply Remains Tight in Mid-January

CALIFORNIA & MEXICO - Brussels sprouts remain in short supply. Reports from The Source, dated January 14, 2026, explain that the Oxnard, California, region continues to face “insect pressure, some decay, and smaller sizing.”

A Markon report from January 13, 2026, noted that prices have begun to decline as the Mexican season ramps up. The report went on to explain that “insect pressure in Mexico is affecting quality and yields, keeping supplies snug this week and next.”

A source familiar with the matter told me that volume estimates for the next two weeks are forecasted below what was hoped for.

The United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National FOB Review from January 14, 2026, reported that supply was “fairly light” and noted a slightly higher market. There is a wide range of prices, quality, and condition being reported. The average price for 25 lb cartons medium 65.55-76.45, mostly 66.55-70.75, a few 60.95, with some occasional higher and lower.
