Aldi has announced that it will be opening the doors of its first New York City store in early 2011. The new store will be located at the Rego Park 2 retail center in Queens. The newest addition to Aldi will offer 90 percent of the items on a typical grocery list at up to 50% less than the competition. With the opening of the first Big Apple Aldi, the retailer has gone from averaging 20 to 30 new stores per year to opening 100 new locations in 2009, a trend that is expected to increase through this year.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">
