San Antonio, TX - H-E-B has added a few new additions to its growing family. H-E-B opened their 78,000 square foot Montrose Market in Houston, Texas, debuting a new supermarket tailored to its consumers and in collaboration with the community. The location was built with the objectives of conservation and minimal impact to the present landscape. The design for the store was voted on by Montrose-area residents from three different preferences. The Pavillion designed by architect Lake Flato, took the cake. All three store options were designed by the legendary architect, under the direction of Bill Triplett, Vice President of Design and Construction. Some of the notable sustainable elements are the store’s highly reflective, energy saving roofing that allows for more efficient cooling of the store’s interior, more efficient water features, and computer automated air conditioning and heating, light fixtures, and “Night Blind” roll down thermal shades for conserving energy. H-E-B is applying for LEED certification to top off their green efforts.

www.heb.com
