On this special report, Craig Carlson, Senior Vice President of Produce for US Foods joins Sarah Hoxie to discuss his new role at US Foods.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> After graduating from college, Mr. Carlson had a fork in the road. He'd graduated with a degree in accounting to be a CPA and was interviewing in that line of work. At the same time, Mr. Carlson was offered a position as a produce manager, having worked as a produce clerk through college. He took the job and has not looked back. The industry professional went on to be a trainer, a buyer, merchandiser, a Vice President of Produce for a large regional chain at the age of twenty-nine in upstate New York where he spent ten years. He then went on to Pathmark where he spent ten years in the mid-Atlantic region holding the position of Vice President of Produce where he then moved on to a three year span in Northwest Arkansas as a Senior Director of Produce working for Walmart.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> The opportunity with US Foods arose and offered such an intriguing chance to work with an innovative organization, that Mr. Carlson jumped at the position. He has spent the last nine months learning about the exciting organization and becoming a member of the US foods team.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> US Foods in currently evolving. Mr. Carlson shares with AndNowUKnow the company's plans to evolve from being a food distributor to a food company. The company is concentrating on having the best food, innovations, knowledgeable associates as well as being easy for the company's customers. US Foods wants to approach their customers with new and innovative items that they can only get at U.S. Foods and use as a means to differentiate themselves in the marketplace.
