<p>While Hurricane Irene ran its course over the east coast of the U.S., Hannaford has done its best to fill the empty plates in Vermont that the hurricane has left in its wake. For two weeks, Hannaford Supermarkets will be selling cans of “Nothing” at their stores located in Vermont. The Vermont Foodbank communicated with its Facebook audience, “Each can purchased replaces that empty plate with 18 nourishing meals. Cans are only available until September 30th. Please help us spread the word. Thank you to Citizens Bank and Hannaford Supermarkets for their support with this campaign!”<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Along with Hannaford’s campaign with the Vermont Foodbank, the company also donated $10,000 and contributed bottled water, food and ice to name a few supplies for the cause. The “Nothing” campaign does not only assist in Vermont, but Ohio and Rhode Island as well. The campaign’s promotional resources state, “While some folks think that nothing can be done to solve the issue of hunger, the Foodbank believes that we can all do something to ensure everyone in Vermont has enough food to eat. So we have turned nothing into a brand. Buy a can of Nothing and you are doing something to end hunger in Vermont.
