Publix announced its sales for the third quarter of 2011 with a report of $6.4 billion, a 5.5 percent increase from last year’s $6 billion. Third quarter, comparable-store sales for 2011 increased 4.3 percent. Net earnings for the third quarter of 2011 were $311.9 million, an increase of 10.1 percent when compared to $283.2 million in 2010.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> Overall, Publix’s sales for the first nine months of 2011 were $19.7 billion, a 5.2 percent increase from $18.8 billion for the same period last year.
