<p>Wawona Packing Company, a third-generation, family-owned company and SPG Solar, a national solar energy company, put the finishing touches on a 934 kilowatt DC ground-mounted, solar-power system. The project will provide up to 70% of the electricity needed for the facility in Cutler, California, according to a press release. Situated on five acres of land neighboring the packing facility, the solar system was brought online in December 2011.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> Annually, the amount of power that the facility will generate is equivalent to the amount needed to power 164 average American homes.
