The Delhaize Group Releases 2011 Sustainability Progress Report

<p><strong> Brussels, Belgium</strong><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> The Delhaize Group has release its 2011 Sustainability Progress Report. This is the 5th year that the company has gone to these lengths to ensure that sustainability progress within its company is being made documented and planned for. Inside, you’ll find highlights of Delhaize's accomplishments and hurdles in the process toward achieving its sustainability goals.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> The report is available online out of respect for the environment. The report presents highlights for the company's efforts during the year that include two new healthy products private brand ranges, Delhaize Kids in Belgium and NutriLife in Greece.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> Greenhouse gas emissions from product transport across the Group fell by 6.6% from 2010. This is in major part, from cutting 2.6 million product transportation kilometers.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> Delhaize also has a key milestone they hope to achieve in 2020. Despite challenging times, Delhaize Group clearly reinforces its commitment to Sustainability with important sights set on 2020. The report explores its look ahead toward 2020 and the efforts to scale-up the current Group sustainability strategy. Membership is The Sustainability Consortium is one example of such efforts.
