The money raised will go towards supporting California State Parks. Last Wednesday, Raley’s presented the check to the Director of California State Parks Ruth Coleman at a ceremony at the Governor’s Mansion State Historic Park, announcing the mansion will remain open and will be removed from the closure list.

Jennifer Teel-Wolter, Community Relations Manager for Raley’s Family of Fine Stores stated, "On behalf of the Raley’s company, our employees, and our customers, it is an honor to present this check knowing that this much-needed money will be put to immediate use to keep the Governor’s Mansion opened and operating.” She later added, “One year ago, we learned of the financial challenges facing California’s state parks and recreation areas and sought a way to help by offering NickelAid to our customers. Their response was overwhelming and it is clear our state’s parks hold a special place in all our hearts.”

According to a press release, the NickelAid campaign launched in June at Northern California Food Source, Raley’s, and Bel Air stores. When a shopper used a recyclable grocery bag- whether it is paper, plastic, or canvas- the store will donate five cents per bag to a California State Parks Foundation Fund. Because Raley’s collected all the administrative fees, 100% of the proceeds went to the foundation.

Raley’s Supermarkets
