In a continuing effort to cut costs and operate efficiently, Giant Eagle is cutting 75 positions with a majority of the trimming taking place across the company’s corporate organization, according to reports in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Rob Borella, Senior Director of Corporate Communications, was quoted in response to a query about the layoffs that employees were notified this week. "It's certainly something that we treat seriously," he said.
Mr. Borella noted that the cuts are being made across the corporate organization at multiple levels and the positions being cut were identified through reviews conducted in the routine course of business.
A spokesperson for Giant Eagle was not immediately available to provide a comment for AndNowUKnow.
