<p><strong>Nogales, AZ</strong><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> Mexican tomato growers have recently presented a proposal to the U.S. Commerce Department in hopes of settling an agreement on exports to the country.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Lance Jungmeyer, President of Fresh Produce Association of the Americas, tells AndNowUKnow, the proposal states an 18-25 percent increase to the floor price, depending on the type of tomato.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">“If Commerce accepts this, then we shouldn’t see a disruption in trade,” says Jungmeyer.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">The proposal is currently under review by the U.S. Commerce Department, however November 1st will be the last day either side can present a case brief.
