As if to contest the arrival of spring, Mother Nature is expected to bring freezing temperatures to areas of north and central Georgia, and South Carolina Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
A freeze warning will take effect in Coweta County to last from 4 a.m. to 11 a.m. Neighboring counties also in the Warning area are Carroll, Douglas, Fulton, Clayton, Fayette, Spalding, Pike, Meriwether, Troup and Heard.
Temperatures are expected to dip into the upper 20s and lower 30s for central Georgia regions, with the potential to impact early budding and flowering vegetation.
The National Weather Service has also issued a freeze warning from midnight to 9 a.m. Thursday for nearly all of Upstate South Carolina and the lower elevations of McDowell, Polk and Rutherford counties in North Carolina.
Temperatures are expected to sink to the high 20s in the upstate region and the low 20s in higher elevations.
