The damage occurs as a result of prolonged exposure to pollution and ultraviolet radiation and can lead to loss of vision.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">The study found that lutein and zeaxanthin, two antioxidants found in green leafy vegetables including kale, spinach and collard greens, can protect against cataracts. The researchers exposed eye lens cells to ultraviolet radiation after treatment with the mentioned antioxidants or vitamin E. Lutein and zeaxanthin were found to be almost 10 times as powerful than vitamin E in protecting the cells from UV damage.</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p><a class="btn btn-sm btn-primary col-lg-12" style="white-space: normal;" href=" http://researchnews.osu.edu/archive/xantheye.htm " target="_new"> Leafy Green Report </a></p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">
