Nabil N. El-Hage Resigns From Demoulas Board in Light of Recent Events

<p>With recent events involving the Demoulas family feud, independent board member Nabil N. El-Hage has announced his resignation, according to the Boston Herald.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">“The decision to resign from the board of Demoulas Super Markets, Inc. was entirely my own,” said Nabil N. El-Hage in an emailed statement to the Herald. “Given recent events, serving on the Board of Market Basket had evolved into a very difficult and time-consuming assignment. With twenty-eight board and committee meetings over the past two-and-one-half months, the position had grown to require far more time than I had available to devote to it.”<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">El-Hage sent his resignation letter to board interim chairman Keith Cowan and CEO Arthur T. Demoulas. Board member Bill Shea, said, "It demonstrates that the new board needs to reconsider its methods and the path that it’s been on.”</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>The conflict with board has been ongoing with Arthur T. Demoulas locked in a battle with his cousin Arthur S. Demoulas, who has been seeking the CEO’s removal. Arthur T. Demoulas and other “A” shareholders sued, challenging Cowan’s independence.
