Final evaluations are still being worked on, according to the Ministerio del Trabajo y Previsión Social.

Concerning employers’ training, Jobet explained that “we will develop all regular lines that the National Service of Advanced Training and Employment purported, so that the workers, who for all their recruitment efforts cannot get a job, can spend those summer months training in other occupations that allow them to get new jobs in the future.”

He also noted that the plan will strengthen the National Employment Exchange, in order to facilitate job placement with workers in the affected areas. Job fairs will be held in all affected regions to enable workers to find employment in their own area, although some may relocate.

In the case of emergency jobs, Jobet noted that “where necessary we will offer to hire workers, who otherwise would not have jobs.”

On October 7th, Mayol extended the state of emergency for the regions of Valparaiso and Maule.

Stay tuned to AndNowUKnow as we continue our coverage on the frosts in Chile.

Ministerio del Trabajo y Previsión Social
