<p>On Wednesday, Raymond weakened from a hurricane to a tropical storm and began moving away from Mexico’s Pacific coast, granting much needed relief to a region that was already devastated by Tropical Storm Manuel.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> According to USA Today, Raymond’s maximum sustained winds decreased to near 65 mph with additional weakening possible over the next few days. At its peak, the storm was a Category 3 hurricane with winds of 125 mph.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> Although Raymond failed to produce the kinds of torrential rains inflicted by Tropical Storm Manuel last month, authorities were still taking precautions to evacuate hundreds of people from vulnerable villages on Tuesday because of fears of landslides.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> According to Terry Snow’s Weather Advisory Service, clouds will slowly decrease with time as additional rain totals will range from one to two inches, perhaps an isolated total to three inches.
