Twenty-seven year industry veteran Jeff Sacchini has announced his departure from FreshPoint/SYSCO as a Regional President on the West Coast effective today.
Jeff joined FreshPoint, one of North America'a leading and most respected fresh produce distributors, in January, 2005 when the company he co-founded, Piranha Produce, Inc. was acquired by FreshPoint. He retained his President title immediately following the acquisition until 2009. He was then promoted to Regional President of FreshPoint for 5 companies on the West Coast.
Jeff tells AndNowUKnow, "Life is all about timing. We founded Piranha at a perfect time when there was a strong need for produce distribution expertise, we sold at an opportune time, and my departure is equally timely."
What's next for Jeff? The avid runner and entrepreneur is looking forward to spending time focused on family, exercising, skiing and continuing his charity work under the Hawaiian non profit, The Kauai Marathon, which he founded with his wife Liz in 2009. "We are proud that we have built a world class destination running event that has drawn over 10,000 runners from 29 countries over the last 5 years and raised over $150,000 for charity on the island of Kauai. It truly is a labor of love."
Jeff has indicated that the produce business is in his blood. It will be interesting to see what chapter comes next for this highly energetic executive.
