<p>With a new structure in the works, SUPERVALU has announced plans for a streamlined independent business organization. The retailer’s independent business will consolidate from three regions to two regions. The newly formed East and West independent business regions will be located in Mechanicsville, VA and Hopkins, MN and will be lead by recently named Kevin Kemp as President of the East region and Bill Chew as President of the West region.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Streamlining the organization will help SUPERVALU reduce operating costs while continuing to drive sales growth with its current and future relationships, according to a press release. SUPERVALU anticipates reducing its employee workforce by about 200 positions throughout its independent business regional teams. Those employees impacted will have an opportunity to apply for open positions within the new organization, the company notes.
